<p>Join us on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wintersville, OH for a free Genealogy & History Event hosted by the Jefferson County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.</p>

<p>Enjoy presentations from local authors, genealogists, and historians including Susan Guy, Joan McGlone, Rena Goss, Sandra Hudnall Day, Flora VerStraten-Merrin, and John Boilegh.
From family research tips to archaeological discoveries, this event is packed with stories and tools to help you connect with the past.</p>

Jefferson County Chapter OGS Genealogy & History Event

Saturday, November 8, 2025
Wintersville, Ohio

The Jefferson County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society invites you to a special day of genealogy, history, and community connections. This free public event will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 437 Powell's Lane, Wintersville, OH, beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Whether you are just starting to explore your family tree, have years of research experience, or simply enjoy hearing about our region's history, this event offers something for everyone.

Attendees will enjoy a full schedule of engaging presentations from local authors, genealogists, and historians, including:
  • Authors Panel (10:00 A.M.) : Featuring Susan M. Guy, Joan D. McGlone, and Rena Glover Goss, moderated by Griselda (Cris) Taylor.
  • Sandra Hudnall Day (11:00 A.M.) : Finding Your Roots is an Amazing Adventure! Practical tips and inspiration from decades of genealogical research.
  • Flora VerStraten-Merrin (1:00 P.M.) : They Came in Ships: Tracing immigrant ancestors through immigration records and historical resources.
  • John Boilegh (2:00 P.M.) : Archaeology & Prehistoric Ohio: Insights into the East Steubenville Site excavations and Ohio's fossils.

Every attendee will receive a booklet with speaker bios and the day's schedule.

Same-day registration opens at 9:00 A.M. with a continental breakfast (pastries and juice).

A light buffet lunch will be served at noon. While admission is free, a $10 donation is suggested to help cover food and handout costs.

Networking:

This event also provides time to connect with fellow researchers and organizations, including the Jefferson County Historical Society and Museum, Fort Steuben Chapter DAR, and the Schiappa Branch Library, along with other county museums and historical groups.
