Obituary for Philip Brindley

It was with deep sorrow that the writer learned of the death of his old friend and comrade, Philip Brindley, which occurred on Saturday, April 18, at the residence of his son-in-law, Jeff. Brown, of Mt. Pleasant Ridge, at ten o'clock a.m. Mr. Brindley was born on the old homestead on Warren Ridge, about 1833. When the Rebellion broke out he enlisted in Co. B, of the 57th Reg. O.V.I. at Zanesville, Ohio, and served nearly four years.

He was married to Martha Fleming in 1874. Of this union there was born three daughters, Mrs. Jeff. Brown of Mt. Pleasant Ridge; Mrs. Jackson and Miss Florence, of Brilliant; his wife preceded him to the spirit land March the 6th 1899. Mr. Brindley was an indulgent farmer, a kind husband and a good neighbor, and he will be sadly missed by his many friends, and the father and motherless children have the sympathy of this community in their sad bereavement.

The remains were laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery at Hopewell.
