STORER/PIERCE FAMILY

William Storer was born about 1763 in Monmouth Co., NJ. The name is sometimes seen as Story, Stores, etc. He was found in 1790 in parts of Fallowfield and Nottingham Twp., which later became Carroll Twp., Washington Co. He married Sarah Pierce, who died sometime after Jul 1812. They lived in Brooke Co., VA by 1797 until Oct 1806. William Storer appears in 1810 as a member of Holmes Church and on the 1810 Ohio tax list as William Storen in Smithfield Twp.

STORER/LEECH and Allied Families

He married Catherine Leech, as his second wife, sometime after Jul 1812. William died in late 1831. Catherine Storer and James McCoy were appointed administrators of the estate.

We are currently searching for Catherine Leach’s parents. Benjamin, John, William and George Leach/Leech/Leetch are among the candidates. Catherine died before 5 Dec 1832 when a notice of settlement of debts to and by Catherine “Storey” deceased was placed in the Western Herald newspaper on 5 Dec 1832.

Children: REBECCA b. 1792 at Allegheny Co., PA m. Thomas GLASS, MERCY (listed as under the guardianship of her brother-in-law JAMES SMITH as a “lunatic”), MARY m. ISAAC MEEK, RUTH m. James Smith, WILLIAM m. NANCY PARR, SARAH probable child of William and Catherine unmarried at the time of William’s death.

NANCY PARR b. 1813 in Ohio m. William Storer, Jr. in Jefferson Co. on 17 Nov 1831. She was the d/o JOHN PARR and JANE GILMORE.

Children named PARR: SAMUEL b. 1790 in Ireland, MARY b. 1794 in Ireland m. 23 May 1811 in Jefferson Co. to John W. LEECH moved to Putnam Co., IL in 1833 according to a record left by his son, MARGARET b. 1804 in OH, JOHN b. 15 Jul 1806, SARAH b. 1808 in OH, JANE b. 1810 in OH, ELIZABETH b. 1812 in OH

John Parr appears on the 1830 Smithfield Twp. Census. He is 70-80 years of age with a female age 60-70 and 2 females age 15-20. George Leetch lives not too far away and lives two dwellings from John Parr, JR. They are on page 145. On page 142 is John Leetch, Benjamin Leetch. All men are likely brothers of Catherine Leech Storer and not her father.
