Steubenville Daily, Jan 10, 1884 – John Smith, one of the oldest citizens of the city…at his residence on North Fifth St between North & Dock about three o’clock. Mr. Smith was born in the port town of Drogheda, near the mouth of the river Boyne, in the county of Louth, Ireland, June 24, 1807…later moved to farm in Meath… In 1831 he married Mary Inglesby, also a native of Drogheda, in England and a year later arriving in Philadelphia and sent for his wife in 1833. In 1836 they became residents of this city…he was engaged in weaving having built a shop on fifth St. . The couple have no living children.
