Welcome
Formed to support the objectives of the Ohio Genealogical Society by creating and building interest in the collection and preservation of historical and genealogical materials and records of Jefferson County, Ohio and the related areas of the Ohio Valley. This chapter takes an active part in the collection of records and helps to make these chapter discoveries available for use by the public in various formats. The chapter was formed in 1986 to bring together individuals having a common interest in genealogy and/or local Jefferson County history. Persons living in Jefferson County, as well as those having roots in the county, comprise the membership. Have you ever considered giving a gift that would benefit the chapter or the cemetery project in the form of a donation? PLANNED GIVING There are a number of ways that our members can financially support the Chapter. Since we are a 501(c) (3), all contributions are tax deductible. In addition to cash contributions, members may also consider the following: Donations by Will Donation of Property Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) A CRT permits them to irrevocably convert assets into a lifetime income stream without generating estate and capital gains taxes, while at the same time reducing current income taxes. When the trust ends, the remaining assets pass to the charity. Members are strongly encouraged to contact an attorney or the Trust Department of your local bank to see if a Charitable Remainder Trust could be right for you. If you have an interest in tracing your family in Jefferson County, Ohio, you are cordially welcome to become a member.
