Warren

Rebecca Elizabeth Warren
Rebecca's brother was Thomas Warren

Rebecca Warren, born 30 Aug 1800. I don't have a place of birth for her, so would like to know what your source is for the Maryland birthplace. I have been searching for Thomas' grandparents for many years without much luck. Thomas was born in Jefferson County, Ohio on 21 Jan 1803. He was the son of William Warren and Rebecca Boyd. Here is some of the information I have for them:

William Warren was born in October 1764 in Menallen Township, Adams Co., PA. He married Rebecca Boyd on 30 Sep 1790. Their children:

  • Mary Warren, born 25 Nov 1791, (possibly born in York Co., PA. However the 1860 census lists her place of birth as KY.)
  • John Warren, born 10 Oct 1793 in PA
  • William Warren, born 25 Oct 1795 (possibly in PA)
  • Rebecca Warren, born 30 Aug 1800 (don't have place of birth)
  • Thomas Warren, born 21 Jan 1803 in Jefferson County, Ohio
  • Eliza Warren, born 28 Jan 1805 in Jefferson County, Ohio
  • Joseph Warren, born 31 Mar 1807 in Jefferson County, Ohio
  • James Madison Warren, born 11 Apr 1809 in Jefferson Co, Ohio
  • Archibald Boyd Warren, born 12 Apr 1811 in Jefferson Co, Ohio
  • Robert Campbell Warren, born 25 Dec 1812 in Jefferson Co, Ohio
  • Perry Warren, born 10 Apr 1815 (don't have place of birth)
  • Hannah Jane Warren, born 18 Sep 1818 (don't have place of birth)

William Warren is listed on the 1860 census (07 Jul 1860) with his son Thomas and family as Wm. Warren, age 97, male, born PA. He died 30 July 1860 and is buried in the Island Creek Cemetery in Jefferson Co., Ohio.

Rebecca Boyd Warren was born 20 Sep 1773 in PA. I don't have any information on her parents. She died 29 May 1852 and is also buried in the Island Creek Cemetery.

The information I have on your Rebecca Warren is sketchy. In addition to the above, I show that she married John Biles on 12 Mar 1829. I show that she died on 20 Aug 1836 in Jefferson Co, Ohio.I show three children for Rebecca & John Biles: Eliza Jane Biles, John W. Biles, and Alexander Perry Biles. I do not have dates of birth for any of them.

Letter from Diane McGurk to Joanne regarding Rebecca Elizabeth Warren

Subject: Your letter regardinjg Rebecca Elizabeth Warren

Dear Joanne,

I received your note regarding Rebecca Elizabeth Warren and find the information you provided very interesting. We are currently on vacation so your letter was forwarded to me. I am descended from Rebecca's brother, Thomas Warren. I will need to check my records when I return home in late August to verify my sources. What I have in my database shows:

Rebecca Warren, born 30 Aug 1800. I don't have a place of birth for her, so would like to know what your source is for the Maryland birthplace. I have been searching for Thomas' grandparents for many years without much luck. Thomas was born in Jefferson County, Ohio on 21 Jan 1803. He was the son of William Warren and Rebecca Boyd. Here is some of the information I have for them:

William Warren was born in October 1764 in Menallen Township, Adams Co., PA. He married Rebecca Boyd on 30 Sep 1790. Their children:

  • John Warren, born 10 Oct 1793 in PA
  • William Warren, born 25 Oct 1795 (possibly in PA)
  • Rebecca Warren, born 30 Aug 1800 (don't have place of birth)
  • Thomas Warren, born 21 Jan 1803 in Jefferson County, Ohio

  • James Madison Warren, born 11 Apr 1809 in Jefferson Co, Ohio

  • Robert Campbell Warren, born 25 Dec 1812 in Jefferson Co, Ohio
  • Perry Warren, born 10 Apr 1815 (don't have place of birth)
  • Hannah Jane Warren, born 18 Sep 1818 (don't have place of birth)

William Warren is listed on the 1860 census (07Jul 1860) with his son Thomas and family as Wm.

I show that she died on 20 Aug 1836 in Jefferson Co, Ohio. (I'll need to check my source on this since you show her on the 1850 & 1860 census.) I show three children for Rebecca & John Biles: Eliza Jane Biles, John W. Biles, and Alexander Perry Biles. I do not have dates of birth for any of them.

I look forward to hearing from you with any additional information you have on Rebecca.

Sincerely,

Diana McGurk
