2. Basic Research and Organizational Skills and How To's
Flora L. VerStraten will take you on a tour of the Ohio Research Library Room. All attending the tour will be given an extensive list of research materials available in the Ohio Room. Flora will also include tips and helps for beginners as well as a refresher course for the more experienced researcher with special emphasis on, Getting Organized and Saving Time and Money!

Rena Goss will explore internet sources such as: databases, local, national, and international websites to learn how to use this valuable source in discovering your family roots.

Lunch
Browse the various chapter books on display for purchase. All registrants will receive extensive helps/handouts on each workshop topic. Door prize drawings throughout the day! Authors will be available to show, sell, and sign their books and answer any questions. There will be an extensive display of scrapbooking/archiving supplies available for purchase.
Area eateries included nearby: Applebee’s, Ponderosa, Chinese Buffet, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, Arby's, The Ville, Eat N Park, subway, and many more! Can may chose to continue your research in the Ohio Research Room OR browse the chapter displays, books and scrapbook/archival supplies. You may also choose to order delivery to the library meeting room (no eating in any other areas of the library) and stay in the meeting room and browse.

‘Lost Children of the Ohio Valley’
Local author, Gordon Grafton will review his book and give a presentation on what made him interested in writing a book on the topic of the local children's home. This book is based on records,stories and letters from the Smithfield Children's Bethel, with special emphasis on the McCullough's Children's Home. Gordon will share why he felt it was important to write this book and why he wanted to make it available to the public. Books will be available to purchase/sign during lunch as well as during his presentation.
