
Ohio Century Farm ProgramThe Ohio Department of Agriculture’s Ohio Century Farm Program is designed to recognize families who have maintained a farm or homestead in their family for at least 100 years, with an emphasis on well preserved, working farms. Learn more about this program from the ODA web site at – http://www.ohioagriculture.gov/centuryfarm/ where you can download and print an Ohio Century Farm Application. You can also call and request a registration form at 614.728.6200. From the ODA web site you can view an ongoing list of applicants and those approved for the program. Click on, List of Century Farms, and you can scroll the listing in alphabetical order, listed by counties. The following are currently listed as Century Farms in Jefferson County. NOTE – I am sure if more farmers knew about this program, they would be interested in joining. George H. & Linda C. McLain – McConnell Farm, 1866 George H. & Linda C. McLain – McLain Farm, 1858 David R. Miller – Miller Farm, 1883 John & Judith E. Parkinson – Parkinson Farm, 1824 William M. Swickard – Swickard Farm, 1807 Kithcart Family – Kithcart Farm, 1808 (No name listed) – Stone Farm, 1837 The ODA web site also includes a listing of county fairs in Ohio and other farming and agricultural information that may be of interest to farmers, historians, and family history researchers. Please share this and the Ohio Century Farm Program information with anyone you feel would be interested. This agency is interested in new members and building a membership base.
