BEAUTIFUL SUNNY SPRING AFTERNOON

  Photo below was taken during the Patriot graveside service held May 15, 2005 for Able Armstrong, (Revolutionary War Patriot) held at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Island Creek Twp. Pictured is Flora L. VerStraten, Chapter President, with chapter member and representative of the Sons of the American Revolution, Ebenezer Zane Chapter, George Livingston, in uniform. Victoria Freeland sang the National Anthem, concluding the graveside service.

     Mt. Tabor M.E. Church was built in 1856.  It was torn down in 1944.  This along with Mt. Zion, Mt. Hope and Richmond comprised the Richmond Circuit.  Mt. Hope M.E. Church was built in 1860, which replaced the original log church.  Mt. Zion M.E. Church was built in 1857. The first church was built in 1837 and was destroyed by fire in 1857.
