Death Summons Mrs. M. KITHCART
County’s Oldest Resident Dies at Smithfield

(Steubenville Herald Star, Sat. Mar. 1943, exactly as it appears in the newspaper)   Mrs. Martha Yost Kithcart, the oldest resident of this county, died at her home at Smithfield on Friday at 1:30p.m. Due to infirmities of her advanced years. 

   She was born at Harrisville and would have been a century old September 28, 1943.  Her ancestors took part in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. 

   She was married to Joseph A. Kithcart who died in 1907.  Four children are deceased.  Mrs William F. Carr, Mrs. H.O. Smith, Ralph C. and John L. Kithcart. 

   Surviving are these children, Fred I. Kithcart and Miss Sadell Kithcart at St. Petersburg, Florida; Mrs James P. Mehollin at Smithfield; Mrs. Frank D. Carson at home; Mrs. Charles M. Bargar of Steubenville; also twelve grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

   She was a member of Smithfield Presbyterian church and had been active in the work of the church and its missionary society for 69 years.  She had been quite active until one year ago and took an interest in world affairs, in community matters and was very conversant with her Bible.  She was an eminent Christian woman, of fine personality and was venerated in that community. 

   Service at the residence Monday at 2 p.m.
