Island Creek Township HistoryIsland Creek- was created June 4, 1806. It was known for excellent farming, wheat, corn, oats, fruit, sheep, cattle, and trees of all sorts were once plentiful. Some variations were; oaks, sugar, maple, walnut, locust, but the portable sawmill made sad havoc among this beautiful land. Pioneer surnames include: Shane, Ault, Viers, Palmer, Paisley, Clarke, Castner, Jackman, Cable, Lee, Ball, Arnold, Patterson, Moore, Hout, Rhinehart, Hanna, Ekey, Watson, Fowler, Cooper, Campbell, Houston, Morrow, Blackburn, Cunningham, Morrison, Weaver, Blackmore, McElroy, and Culp.
