Tilton Territory - Mr. Robert Richardson donated several copies of this book he published for the proceeds to go towards our cemetery preservation-restoration project. This book includes a rich history of the earliest settlers in Warren Township and vicinity. Not only does it include wonderful stories about the founding father of Tiltonsville, but it includes many local descriptions of various families and locations, complete with vivid descriptions and photos, 300 pages.

     The Smithfield Children's Bethel Home was opened to accept children on November 1, 1905.  It was organized as an Undenominational Benevolent Christian Home for needy children.  It was founded by the Reverend and Mrs. Samuel T. Purviance and family.

     The McCullough Home opened on June 3, 1914 and of the first thirty children placed in the McCullough Home, twenty-eight came from the Smithfield Bethel.
