Local Pioneer Family Remembered

Old Pioneer Family Remembered! (Wellsburg Weekly Herald, 8 March 1907) Last of a family of thirteen- That was noted for Longevity is Dead- Grandfather Nearly 100 years old.  There was buried in New Cumberland today, a woman who came from a large family noted for the remarkable longevity of its members. The woman was Mrs. Margaret J. Haney, who died in Toronto Thursday night of pneumonia. Mrs. Haney had lived to the ripe old age of 89 years and until stricken with pneumonia, she enjoyed good health.  Mrs. Haney was the last of a family of thirteen, all of whom but one had lived many years. Her grandfather only lacked about two months of being 100 years old at the time of his death; her father died at the age of 93; her mother at 89, and brothers and sisters died at the following ages; Samuel Carson, 93 yrs and 9 months, 11 days. John Carson, 88; David Carson, 82; Elizabeth Peterson, 80; James Carson, 81; William Carson, 70; Mary Herron, 60; Adrian Carson, 79; Andrew Carson, 88, Margaret Jane Carson Haney 89 years, 6 months and two days. The husband of Mrs. Haney died in 1896, at the age of 89 years.
