Our office and research archive is now open to patrons on
Tuesday and Thursday's from 10a.m. until 2p.m. and on Sat. by appt. only from 9a.m. to noon.
NOTE - We strongly suggest that you call the archive if you are planning a visit to review what types of records we have and also to make sure that someone will be available to assist you during your visit.
FEE's and DONATIONS
There are FEE's for copies (25 cents a copy) and we also would appreciate DONATIONS for the use of the archive. Since we are a non-profit organizations, we maintain our records and projects and office from the source of memberships and donations only.
Please feel free to share this information with any other interested parties researching Jefferson County.
SOURCES
We have a notebook at the archive, listing all the sources we have available at this time. We also have several "working files and spreadsheets" that can be accessed from our computer for researchers. We have ALL naturalization records; ALL Common Pleas Journals and ALL early probate packets from the Probate office. You must have a NUMBER for the probate packet - not a surname, which can be obtained by traveling to the Jefferson County courthouse and searching for your surname in the indexes. Once the surname(s) is located, you can locate the "case file number" which is needed to located the packets at our archive.
