Wintersville ME Cemetery Records Digital Index

Wintersville ME Cemetery Records Digital Book
Taken from the church records

This list was obtained from the records housed at the Wintersville United Methodist Church, Main St., Wintersville, Ohio. The chapter was given a copy of these records and this list was typed and compiled by Flora L. VerStraten. No attempts were made to made any corrections of spellings to names/surnames or dates.

The chapter believes that this list was compiled many years ago from a church member who read the tombstone inscriptions. The chapter notes that just the year of birth and death was recorded on this record, even though more information is available on the tombstones. This does not appear to be a complete listing, however.

The Lloyd/Gould/Cool Springs cemetery was read by
Alan Gould. He also typed the spreadsheet and wrote the history and
researched the deeds to this cemetery. Everything that is in RED is not
actual inscriptions, but additional sources of information that Alan has
collected from his research or from other sources, listed in the misc.
column.

Gordon/Madranski Cemetery Digital Book

Gordon/Madranski Farm Private Cemetery
Amsterdam, Jefferson County, Ohio

The following information was provided by Thomas A. Hill, direct descendant of the Gordon family.

Tombstones and photos were taken by Tom on August 31, 1977, when he visited the Madranski Farm in Springfield Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio. Mr. Madranski did not indicate whether or not there were others buried there. When Tom first spoke to him in 1977, he seemed to be only familiar with these two Gordon tombstones.

When I took the tombstone photos of Joseph and Phebe, they were laying by themselves in a thicket along the road outside of Amsterdam, across from what had once been the Robert McGee homestead. In the 1970's the home/farm was owned by a Madranski family and the head of the household told me that it was his understanding that the two stones had been placed there when the coal miners came through and mined the area where the family plot had originally been located, elsewhere on the farm.

The Gordon's were living with their daughter and son-in-law at the time of their death. Their daughter was, Jane, who married Robert Magee, my 3rd great grandfather. Robert Magee built the house in 1836, and in the 1970's the Madranski's lived there.

Robert and Jane Magee, however, are buried in the Amsterdam Cemetery.

This spreadsheet information was extracted from the Hopewell Plat/Lot Owners map. This is not a listing of tombstone inscriptions. This is just a help mate for fellow researchers.
There was no date found on the map. This file contains names of owners of cemetery lots at the Hopewell Cemetery. This could be a very useful tool in locating ancestors in the Hopewell Cemetery/Church.
