CarpenterObituary - A. P. CarpenterA. P. Carpenter. {Wellsburg - Weekly Herald 30 Nov. 1906} A. P. Carpenter a man residing near Laurelton, Jefferson County, Ohio, states of an interesting relic on his farm. Standing on the property is a log cabin house still in fair condition, which is probably the oldest house in Jefferson County. The house was erected by a man named Humphries one of the pioneers of the state. He was one of the large land owners and was also a member of the commission that framed the first constitution of Ohio, but he later became insane and was confined in the cabin until his death.
