
Brush Creek Township HistoryBrush Creek Township was formed March 5, 1833. Most of the township was within Columbiana County. Legislation rearranged the county lines, which placed the Territory Township again in our county and part was taken from Ross Twp. It contains twenty-four sections approximately 24 square miles. Coal abounds and grain was grown along with farming, grazing stock, salt along the creeks, and deer hunting. Some early pioneer surnames are: Croxton, Derrick, Adams, Gillingham, Harper, Emmons, Russell, Adams, Ritter, Kerr, Clark, McLennan, Downard, Hutton, and Beard.
